Why alt text

Image search is an underrated traffic source, and alt text is also an accessibility requirement. Most sites have hundreds of images with none. Exactly the kind of backlog that never gets done by hand.

Bulk AI Alt Generator

1. Open SEO & Chill → Image SEO.
2. Click Scan Media Library (or Scan Post Content for images referenced in posts).
3. The scanner lists every image missing alt text; the AI suggests descriptive alt text per image.
4. Apply per image or all at once. Progress is visible and pausable.

Rules

An exclude list skips filenames or path tokens (logos, favicons, icons). The fallback template is used when AI is unavailable and supports tokens: {post_title}, {site_name}, {filename}.

Automation

Enable auto-generate alt text on upload in AI Settings and new images arrive with alt text from day one. The backlog never rebuilds.
