Why alt text

Image search is an underrated traffic source, and alt text is also an accessibility requirement. Most sites have hundreds of images with none. Exactly the kind of backlog that never gets done by hand.

Bulk AI Alt Generator

1. Open SEO & Chill → Images.
2. Click Scan Media Library (or Scan Post Content for images referenced in posts).
3. The scanner lists every image missing alt text, with a suggestion made from its file name. The Bulk AI Alt Generator (Basic) has your AI write them instead, from the file name and, for an image in a post, the text around it. It doesn’t see the picture itself, so check the ones that matter.
4. Apply per image or all at once. Progress is visible and pausable.

Rules

An exclude list skips filenames or path tokens (logos, favicons, icons). The fallback template is used when AI is unavailable and supports tokens: {post_title}, {site_name}, {filename}.

Automation

Under Settings → General → Image SEO, Alt text for new images decides what a new upload gets. From the file name is the default and works without AI. Choose Written by AI (Basic) and your AI writes it shortly after the upload, from the file name and the post the image is in. New images arrive with alt text from day one, and the backlog never rebuilds.
